Hermersbergerhof
Description
Immediately after the start, the first challenging climb takes you past the Falkenburg ruins. This rock castle should be visited at length: not only the beautiful view, but also the legendary castle ruins are worthwhile. After a short trail descent, the route climbs steadily uphill on a variety of trails and forest paths to the Hermersbergerhof. Here, too, you should make a detour to the nearby Luitpoldturm, which is well signposted: the view from up there is breathtaking and it is said that you can see more than 100 peaks in the Palatinate Forest.
After that, the route heads downhill to Wilgartswiesen. Trails and beautiful forest paths alternate. After a short road ride, the route heads uphill on forest paths to Spirkelbach before taking the Hermann-Rinner-Pfad downhill. The hairpin bends there are quite demanding: safe riding technique is required. Once at the bottom, there is another ascent. Now we cross the villages of Lug and Schwanheim and ride uphill again on forest paths. The following trail flows along the slope. The hairpin bends at the beginning are challenging as they are often covered in loose soil. The lower part of the descent is wonderfully beautiful with wide bends and ends at the Stopper campsite in Hauenstein. Now we cycle again on a short trail and then take the asphalt road back to the train station.
