Felsentour Eppenbrunn

Spectacular rock formations with the old castle rocks and panoramic high plateau - this tour is a constant alternation of deep forest and panoramic views of the villages and mountains of the Southwest Palatinate.

Description

From the center of the village, the route first leads through a small leisure park and then through the village of Eppenbrunn on asphalt, before riding slightly uphill on a forest road into the nearby forest. At the beginning, we cross the district and country roads in the area several times. The hilly terrain alternates between forest roads and short, narrow sections of path. After the first long climb, we reach the "Hohe List". You can take a break at the hiking lodge of the same name. After a short downhill section, the trail then climbs again. The path rides below the Kettrichhof farm to a plateau with great views. From there, you always have a beautiful 360-degree view of the surrounding countryside and the villages on this hill. We then enter a denser forest again and, after a short ascent and another crossing of the main road, descend into a beautiful long flowing trail down into a side valley. We leave the small ponds on the right and turn left again into a climb, first on a wide path, then on a challenging uphill section on a trail. Shortly before the Felsenbrunnerhof, we cross the familiar plateau again and after a short descent on a dirt road, we ride down a beautiful narrow path, where we leave the forest on a small side road. Shortly before the village of Trulben, we cycle a loop that ends in a hilly trail above the village and takes us directly into the village, which we now cross. From here, you have a good view of the Krappenfelsen rock, which towers above the village.

After a short tarmac section, we cycle uphill again, where we can enjoy another panoramic view at the end. Then it's a rapid descent, first on a dirt track, then on a gravel road, which we leave at the end of Trulben. We follow the cycle path and then turn off for our final ascent. First we cross the village of Schweix, the following forest road leads us to a crossroads, here we turn left to the Altschlossfelsen. The five-minute detour is well worth it: this elongated rock formation is impressive: spectacularly large towers and rocks stretch hundreds of meters along a hill. Back on the signposted mountain bike park route, we follow the Helmut Kohl trail. Finally, we ride up and down another trail before returning to Eppenbrunn on a forest road and side road.
