Monte Froppa

Monte Froppa

The region around the Piave and Cadore offers a wealth of historic trails and exciting trail combinations. The descent from the Eremo dei Romiti hermitage down to Lago di Centro Cadore promises a technically challenging and compact all-mountain mountain bike tour.

Description

The loop trail begins at the parking lot on the east bank of the Piave River. With moderate gradients, the trail climbs steadily through wooded terrain until mountain bikers reach the Eremo dei Romiti hermitage. Idyllically situated at 1,167 meters above sea level, this inviting and historic building offers an impressive view of the Dolomites and the surrounding mountains. Those interested in history can tour parts of the building and other religious structures before beginning the descent on Sentiero 347 Monte Froppa. The trail runs entirely on forest floor through spruce and pine groves. There are also a few so-called “root sections” to navigate. Dry conditions are recommended. In dry conditions, the difficulty ranges from S2 to S3 in some sections. When wet, some sections are more challenging to ride, as the long roots must be navigated skillfully. After an elevation loss of just under 450 meters, this section ends, and you reach the starting point again slightly above the Piave River.
