The Weisskugelhütte with its fantastic location nestled in the glacier basin between Weissseespitze and Weisskugel not only offers high alpine mountaineering adventures, but mountain bikers also get their money's worth in this area.

Description

The route starts in Melag in the Langtauferer Tal valley. From here, you wind your way up towards the Melager Alm. You can still pedal a few meters here before pushing and carrying your bike up to the Weisskugelhütte. In addition to culinary delights, the Weisskugelhütte itself offers a mountain panorama that is rarely seen. The sharp retreat of the glaciers has caused the moraines to recede, creating a bizarre picture of the Alps. There is also a fantastic trail here, known as the Glacier Trail. At difficulty levels S2 to S3, the trail from the Weisskugelhütte is immediately challenging. There are some key sections to master down to Rio Carlino. Then a short crossing of the moraine and towards Melager Alm this trail becomes increasingly flowy and is a real pleasure. Past the Melager Alm, you then surf back to Melag on S0.
