Fluchtwand
Description
The ascent to the Fluchtwand (2328 meters above sea level) is easy: From Nauders you climb up a gravel road to the Labaunalm and on to the Hochleger. Now the road turns into a trail, which is a little difficult to ride because it is deep in places and because short counter-climbs have to be mastered again and again. Finally, you reach the escape wall, one of the most beautiful vantage points in Nauders. Here you have a first-class panoramic view of Nauders with the Ortler in the background and the Lower Engadine.
The descent begins with a pushing section. The first section rides through steep, gravelly terrain. This is also where you need to walk to avoid dislodging any stones that could hit hikers further down. Speaking of which: the escape wall is also very popular with pedestrians, so this tour should be avoided in the high season or postponed to off-peak times. In addition, above-average consideration is required. After the crisp start, the trail becomes more flowing and rides past the Bazahlerkopf. The path rides through meadows and is very narrow. After crossing a gravel road, the trail becomes a little wider and rides super smoothly through the forest into the Valdigastei valley. Finally, you reach a meadow, which takes you back onto gravel and uphill again to finally take the beautiful 17A trail back to Nauders.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.
