Cima Varirosa – Monte Autes

The summit ridge from Cima Varirosa to Monte Autes with the legendary ascent and descent is a trail highlight in Valle Stura.

Description

The route starts in the historic town of Vinadio with its gigantic fortress. From here, the route continues on asphalt and later on a gravel road with a pleasant incline to Neraissa Inferiore. From here you change to a military road on gravel, which is somewhat rough and washed out in places, as far as Colle di Neraissa. Here you will find some ruins from the 19th century along with defensive structures. Continue on a single trail on an uphill difficulty scale from S0 to S1 to Cima Varirosa. The view here is magnificent and you have the striking peaks of the Valle Stura in full view.

The descent is also magnificent. Anyone who completed the Stone King Rally 2022 will know the trail. A fantastic singletrail with magnificent views on difficulty levels S1 to S2 forges along the ridge and rides down to Neraissa Inferiore. It should be said, however, that the tour is a real pleasure in dry conditions and a real hell in wet conditions. The route continues briefly on asphalt before taking a fine single trail with a difficulty of S1 to S2 towards Lentre near Castellar and then a few more detours with a difficulty of S2 to the starting point in Vinadio.
