The "Herrensteig" from the Kronplatz summit down to Bruneck has a legendary reputation: 1300 meters of downhill thrills, with beautifully shaped berms, nice jumps and extra flow. This dream can be bought with a lift ticket, or fought for.

Description

Crown Square. As the name suggests: according to ancient legends, this is where the invincible Dolomite supergirl Dolasilla was crowned queen by the Fanes people. Not a bad place to become queen. And in modern times, not a bad place to become downhill queen (or king). The Kronplatz people thought so too and a few years ago carved the "Herrensteig" trail into the northern flank of the sole ruler of the Pustertal valley. The result: a narrow trail of the highest quality, which swallows up a whopping 1300 vertical meters in countless bends. A dream come true for pros and stable beginners alike. You don't necessarily have to ride it non-stop... But how do bikers get to the coronation fair at the Kronplatz summit? Either with the cable car from Olang or from Reischach, above Bruneck. Friends of the by-fair-means idea, however, fight their way up the 1300 vertical meters under their own steam - and enjoy their non-alcoholic summit halbe twice as much. There are almost as many refreshment stops up here as in the pedestrian zone of Bruneck. Highly recommended: the Messner Mountain Museum, built by the Iraqi star architect Zaha Hadid, and the "Lumen" photography museum near the summit station. The downhill marble run called Herrensteig also starts from here. The crowning glory of any South Tyrolean biking vacation. Speaking of crowning glory: the invincible Dolomite supergirl Dolasilla was probably not quite invincible after all. Robbed of her infallible arrows by a trick, Dolasilla dies in the decisive battle on the Pralongia - and with her, the kingdom of Fanes perishes.
