The base of the route is the village of Gais a little north of Bruneck. The start is easy, following the cycle paths into the Ahrntal valley. Shortly before the village of Sand, there is a detour to the Reinbach waterfall - a spectacle not to be missed, especially as access by bike is quick and easy. However, the waterfall is not the destination of the tour; instead, a little later you climb along the Ahr stream to the valley station of the Speikboden cable car. Thanks to this, the ascent is reduced by almost 1000 meters in altitude. At the mountain station, you roll along the gravel road to the Trejer Alm and then on the easy single trail to the south side of the Speikboden. The culmination point and the start of the long singletrail descent is finally reached at a mountain ridge. This is a flowing, fun and occasionally tricky ride down to the Weizgruber Alm and on to Mühlwald on the valley floor of the Mühlwalder Tal. For the way back to the main valley, you now follow the asphalt roads due to a lack of singletrail alternatives. After all, the return trip to Gais on the left side of the Tauferer Valley offers a few more beautiful, flowing single trails.
