Kellerjochhütte - Geolsalm

The Kellerjoch hut, which towers high above the Inn Valley and offers views from the Zugspitze to the Großglockner, not only spoils mountain bikers with culinary delights, but also offers a lush trail descent.

Description

The route starts in the Inn Valley in the small town of Strass at the entrance to the Zillertal. From here, you meander along the cycle path towards Innsbruck as far as Schwaz. From Schwaz, the route then climbs up cycle route 416 on asphalt and later on gravel, with fantastic panoramic views. At the top, turn off towards the Proxenalm. At the Proxenalm, the gravel path ends at the material cable car, whereby the last few meters are extremely steep. From here, the pushing and carrying section begins. On the 311 and later on the 312 Kellerjochweg, the last meters of altitude can be climbed with a priceless panorama. Once you reach the Kellerjoch hut, you can enjoy some of the best views in the Inn Valley.

The trail descent is also one of the best. On the 18A trail towards Gartalm-Hochleger, it's straight down to business. At level S3 with S4 passages, you need full body tension and concentration to ride the trail well. After that, it gets a little easier and you traverse from the Gartalm-Hochleger in the direction of the Geolsalm along the 18er panorama trail. From the Geolsalm there is a complete change of scenery. The super-flowy S1 trail takes you through the Fügen forest down to the Spieljochbahn middle station in the direction of Kohleralmhof. The trail then runs directly under the lift route and becomes a little more difficult. Almost entirely S2, in places S3, this trail takes you back down into the Zillertal to the valley floor in Fügen. Afterwards, the cycle path is used as a transfer to Strass in the Zillertal. All in all, a full trail tour that scores points for the breathtaking uphill and the eternal downhill.
