Bonn-Matreier Hütte
Description
The starting point of the tour is Obermauern in Virgental. From the village center, the route leads along asphalt to the hiking parking lot and then steadily uphill on gravel through larch forests. At an altitude of around 2000 meters above sea level, you break through the forest and pedal along the road along the Nillbach stream, where the ascent becomes steeper. Finally, the path ends at 2300 meters above sea level, where the bike ends up on your back and is carried along a path to the Bonn-Matreier hut. The hut is perfect for a break. Breathtaking mountain panoramas are on offer here and the flair of the Western Alps is guaranteed.
From the hut, it is then a few meters back, then the descent begins. If you want to enjoy the descent, you should already be in S3. Between S2 and S3, occasionally and in sections S1, it goes downhill. There is also a short counter-climb at Stotzkopf with an exposed section. The route is particularly challenging in the basin due to the hairpin bends. It should be noted here that the tour should generally be completed in dry conditions, as otherwise the erosion damage is too great. Once on the gravel path, you cross the path to the Gotschaunalm and then a perfect S2 single trail down to the hikers' parking lot. All in all, a perfect tour that is particularly worthwhile in autumn due to the coloring of the forests and the good visibility.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.
