Giro Val Müstair

Alp da Munt (Val Müstair)

As the name suggests, the Giro Val Müstair circumnavigates the Val Müstair on a singletrail-rich super tour.

Description

From Sta. Maria, you initially ride to Valchava, where you follow a steep asphalt road to Tschierv after the church. From here, you reach the Ofen Pass via the main road. At the top of the pass, a trail rides towards Alp da Munt. After Alp da Munt, you follow a small road past avalanche barriers to the next junction, where you turn left onto a trail. This meanders through the terrain like a natural BMX track. After a narrow bridge over the small stream, the trail widens again and rides to Alp Champatsch. Continue on the singletrail below the alpine road to Lü, and after the village, ignore the first hairpin bend on the main road and head straight on onto a new singletrail. Immediately after the stream, take a sharp right back onto the main road, which you follow uphill for about 200 meters. On the left-hand side is the start of the next trail, which rides down to Fuldera. After the village, there is a short ascent to a bridge. If you haven't had enough singletrail  yet, ride left along a path to the main road. After the gray signpost depot, turn left over a small bridge to the trail on the left side of the valley. Follow the asphalt road until you reach the first hairpin bend. Then turn right onto the next trail. Turn sharp right at the crossroads. Once you reach the dirt road again, follow it until you reach a small bridge, where you turn left again onto a flowing trail and follow it to Sta. Maria.

Once again, we treated ourselves to the ascent to the Ofen Pass by post bus. With a guest card for overnight stays in Val Müstair, public transport is included (from Zernez to Müstair incl. Umbrail Pass). From the Ofenpass a nice, short trail until the ascent begins. Stop off at Alp Champatsch, delicious dishes, unfortunately nothing for vegans, for vegetarians there is delicious Kaiserschmarren, otherwise delicious bacon dumplings or barley soup. Descent then over super beautiful, fun and mostly flowing trails. It was so much fun that we incorporated it into the next tour the following day.
Another beautiful tour (without a head for heights) in the same area: from the Ofenpass around the Munt de la Bescha - Valbella anticlockwise. Unfortunately no ibexes seen.
