Ofenpass - Poschiavo
Description
The tour starts on the Ofen Pass, which can be reached from Zernez or from the Münstertal valley by post bus. Right at the top of the pass, you take the first single trail down to Alp Buffalora and then the steep gravel ascent to Jufplaun. The fun begins down to Lago di Livigno. The trail leads past the Alpe del Gallo and is one of the most fun routes far and wide. Finally, it becomes a wonderful high-level trail steeply above the lakeshore and finally crosses a sea of pines to the Passo di Fraéle. You ride along the lake to the southern dam wall of Lago di Cancano, pass through a small tunnel and then roll down two bends on the road towards Valdidentro. Now begins the long and flat gravel road high above the Valdidentro to Arnoga. The hotel on the road between Livigno and Bormio is the starting point for the ascent through the Val Viola up to the Pass da Val Viola. The ascent is completely rideable, albeit steep at the end. From the top of the pass, a trail specially prepared for mountain bikers leads down to the idyllic Lagh da Viola. Continue on trails to the Rifugio Saoseo and always along the left valley floor to Suracqua. After a few meters on the forest road, the super trail branches off to the left down to Poschiavo. This is super flowy at first, then gets a little rougher towards the end and ends at Angeli Custodi. Poschiavo is not far away and the route now rides along side roads to the picturesque town center.

I rode the tour last weekend. Please note that the "Decauville" section from Alp Gattonino is completely closed on weekdays until 30.11.24 due to construction work. A detour is signposted, but you ride a few extra meters in altitude via the Alp Vezzola/Foscagno pass road. https://www.valdidentroturismo.it/news/info/lavori-in-corso.html
The Poschiavino Trail II is also closed due to storm damage (from P. 1,600 m above sea level to the cantonal road; see Trailforks). After Poschiavino Trail I, it is best to ride down to the Bernina Pass road and then turn into Trail III.
Otherwise a top tour! Completely rideable up to the Viola Pass, after the pass it gets a bit bumpy up to Lake Viola (passages up to S3)
The trail at Lago di Livigno is narrow and exposed and has a short slippery section and a waterfall that can be tricky depending on the water flow.
Rode the tour on 23.09.2021 . Can only say TOP. Panorama super. Can recommend it to everyone.
Wonderfull landscape. Poor trails on the 2/3 of the way until the pass Viola. Not so difficult, 1140 m climbing , 69 km. Have fun.
Truly something of the most beautiful, both in terms of landscape and single trails, that the Engadin has to offer.
Rode the tour in summer 2019.
