Nationalpark Marathon
Description
From Scuol, you climb up through Val S-charl to the village of the same name, then follow the alpine road and finally reach the Pass da Costainas through a sea of pines. A downhill section now leads to Lü and on to Tschierv. There are many singletrail options here as an alternative to the wide gravel roads. In Tschierv, you ride down to Fuldera and change sides of the Münster Valley. The route now climbs up into the well-known Val Mora, rolling down through it to the Passo Val Mora, and a little later you reach the Passo di Fraéle. This is the starting point for the ascent to the Passo di Valle Alpisella, the pass that rides into the high valley of Livigno. The Chaschauna pass is now the pièce de résistance of the route: The top riders usually master this completely by riding, but most mountain bikers push a bit here. The descent back into Switzerland initially leads along a single trail, then again along forest roads to the outskirts of S-chanf. On the right side of the Engadin valley, you now roll towards Zernez. You remain on the right side of the Inn, pass the village of Susch at the foot of the Flüela valley and finally reach Lavin. Here you climb up to Guarda and follow the southern slopes of the Lower Engadine on small roads to Ftan. Now it's time for the final descent back to Scuol.
Note: The entire route is signposted with the number 444 as an official mountain bike route.
