Tuoi

The tour from Scuol to the Tuoi hut combines the wonderful southern flanks of the Lower Engadine into a magnificent and sporty singletrail tour in the face of the peaks of the Silvretta region.

Description

The tour starts on the road from Scuol to Ftan, with the route merging into the alpine road to Alp Laret immediately after the village of Ftan. The first 900 meters in altitude have been covered, after which the route leads into Val Tasna on a singletrail on the eastern side of the valley and out again on a singletrail on the western side. Just above Ardez, turn right onto the ascent to Murtera and Alp Sura. This lies at the entrance to the Val Tuoi, where the Tuoi hut is located right at the foot of the Piz Buin. This is the actual destination of the tour and the ideal place for refreshments. You then head downhill through Val Tuoi, taking the path on the right-hand side of the valley at Alp Suot and finally reaching the picturesque village of Guarda. You then roll along a small road to Ardez, on to Ftan and from there along an alpine road and finally down to Scuol on a singletrail.

We rode the tour as a 2-day tour and adapted it slightly.
Day 1: Start at Motta Naluns, descent to Alp Laret (see Ride: Alp Clünas-Val Tasna) and join the Tuoi trail there, saving approx. 500m.
At Alp Valmala, we took the flowing trail on the right side of the stream (see singletrail map, red) instead of following the gravel road on the left as described. Where the gravel road changes to the trail (approx. at Alp Tasna), the trail was closed due to logging. So we descended a bit along the gravel road. There is a bridge directly after the logging, so you can easily switch back from the gravel road to the trail.
Although the ascent from Ardez to Muntera Dadoura follows a gravel road, it is steep, strenuous and very hot in summer. Only very persistent bikers ride continuously. About halfway between Muntera Dadoura and Alp Sura, the path becomes rough and is interspersed with large boulders. Approx. 20min pushing passage, with individual interruptions, some of which are rideable again.
Day 2: Tuoihütte - Scuol. Unfortunately, the single trail from Ftan to Scuol described here is now closed to bikers and the meters in altitude have to be covered on the scooter trail. Better: from Ftan, for example, follow the "Alp Clünas - Val Tasna" ride tour, then you'll still have some trail fun. Have fun!
