Alp Clünas

Alp Laret (Scuol)

The Alp Clünas tour is one of the most attractive singletrail routes in Scuol and offers not only scenic attractions but also wonderfully flowing trail descents.

Description

The tour starts at the mountain station of the Motta-Naluns cable cars. From Scuol, you can also ascend under your own steam via Ftan and Prui. Now follow a steep gravel path to Chamanna da Naluns and the transmitter antenna, where a high-altitude trail begins on sloping terrain. The singletrail climbs gently up to Alp Clünas, after which you follow a well-maintained alpine path towards Muot da l'Hom. As soon as the path descends towards Alp Laret, it becomes rougher and soon turns into a flowing singletrail. At Alp Laret, turn left and follow the singletrail, then the gravel road to Prui and on to just before the Motta Naluns mountain station. Initially you are on the former downhill route, traverse to Flöna and head onto the path through Val Clozza. Watch out, there are often families here! The trail leads directly to the center of Scuol.

Alternatives: Start the tour in Ftan, climb up to Alp Laret and skip the loop via Alp Clünas.

We rode the tour on July 12, 2026. The trail between Muot da l'Hom and Alp Laret rides great and isn't a bumpy ride (anymore)! After Alp Laret, we turned right and rode up and down the valley toward Alp Valmala. Here, an existing singletrack has been adapted for biking—it's a lot of fun! On the way back, it’s worth adding the Baraigla Trail to your route; otherwise, you’ll just roll back to Scuol on forest roads.

We rode the tour today. The built trail in the upper part is a matter of taste, lots of ball track, relatively tight bends where you have to brake hard.
The first part of the trail from Alp Laret to Prui is easy to ride but has some tough uphills that we couldn't ride all of. It had rained extensively the day before and so the trail was very wet and muddy, not easy to ride. From Prui in the forest it was very nice and flowy again.
From Mutta Naluns we rode the Jonvrai trail, then Sentiagotrail. Unfortunately, the trails came to an end after that and we had to cover the entire altitude difference on gravel. All in all a nice tour, but a descent to Scuol is missing.

I rode the tour in June 2023 and would also give it 5 points for overall impression!

I have marked the newly created path from 2022 between Muot da l'Hom and Alp Laret in OpenStreetMap so that it can be adopted. The upper part is very winding and not very smooth to ride (but easy), after that it gets a little faster and more flowy.

We rode the trail on 28.08.2020 in light rain. The trail section just below the La Motta mountain restaurant is not easy due to the loose gravel stones, but it is rideable.
At the Flöna mountain restaurant, we were surprised by a sign: "Clozza-Flöna hiking trail closed until further notice for safety reasons". The road closure is listed in the Schweizmobil app, so it's worth checking before you set off...
We therefore switched to the gravel road. Too bad about the beautiful altitude difference, but a good reason to come back ;-)

Overall a rewarding tour, especially the trail from Muot da l'Hom is fantastic. Alp Laret is worth a stop.
Trail from Alp Laret to Prui is hardly rideable in the first part, especially the short uphill crossings. From Prui in the forest again very nice and flowy.

A tour that initially takes place in the ski area. If you ignore the mountain railroads, the surroundings are quite beautiful. The trail section to Alp Laret is beautifully laid out. I have fond memories of the 2nd trail section from Motta-Naluns. You ride very beautiful trail sections here.
