Münstertal - Livigno

The combination of the Val Mora tour from the Münstertal valley and the Laghi-di Fraele tour from Livigno makes for an impressive and extraordinary two-day tour between Sta Maria and Livigno.

Description

First day: From Sta Maria, ride to Valchava, where you follow a steep asphalt road to Tschierv after the church. From here you reach the Ofen Pass via the main road. At the top of the pass, don't miss the start of the trail to Buffalora! This is located to the left of the main road. On the plain in Buffalora, the trail joins a wide dirt road. This snappy climb to Jufplaun leads to Passo Gallo, where the fantastic singletrail descent begins. The trail runs smoothly through woods and meadows down to Lake Livigno. Finally, it is a narrow mountain trail that rides up to the Passo di Fraéle. A little after reaching the first lake, the path branches off to the left to Alpisella. This pass shows its steep side on the descent. At the end of the singletrail, head left and steeply down to the stream and find the next flowing singletrail towards Livigno.

Second day: The route on the second day begins either on the pass road to the Passo d'Eira or with the cable car ride up the Mottolino. From the top of the pass, take a trail to Trepalle, where the trail to Passo Trela begins later. At Campaccio, this rides into Val Pila and then up Passo Trela. After the Rifuggio di Trela, the route continues on a stony road to the lakes of Fraele. Passo Mora is quickly reached here, the starting point for the ride back to the Münstertal valley. The winding trail has some tricky passages. The alpine road at the end of the trail now continues towards Val Mora and joins the natural road towards Döss Radond. There are two options for the descent to Sta Maria. The first rides along the forest road to Sta Maria and is technically easy. The second descent variant leads to Döss Radond to the right of the road onto a rough path. Follow this to the bottom and past the old ore furnace to the starting point of Sta Maria.
