Val d'Urse

Tour Val d'Urse

Easily accessible from the Cavaglia train station, the Val d'Urse route is a short but rewarding tour in Valposchiavo. It enchants with little ascent, the view of the valley, beautiful, moderately difficult trails and ends in Poschiavo.

Description

At the Cavaglia train station, follow the asphalt road out of the valley, then turn right uphill for a few minutes and stay on it for almost four kilometers until a single trail leads away from it at Braita Dasott. This is the most strenuous section. Although the trail is easy to ride uphill, there are a few steep ramps in the way. However, the ascent soon ends at Braita Dasura, where the short section on the gravel road allows you to take a deep breath before the route leads into the next trail. This winds its way along the slope to the clearing at Li Bigori, where the descent begins. The short, moderately difficult section ends at Puntiglia, after which you ride right over the bridge and along the forest road for a few hundred meters. Shortly after Pru Stefan, the long descent begins on the "Costin" trail. The historic trail, which has been restored for mountain bikers, is not very difficult in terms of riding technique. In places, however, it has quite a gradient, which is why it should not be underestimated. The Costin runs through the forest and ends just before Poschiavo, where you roll the last few meters on side roads into the village.

It's worth changing the brake pads shortly before - or you can just change them afterwards ;)
Shortly after Breita (P1727), it is worth taking the road for the last ascent to take the #Swingtheworld swing shortly after the rock bar, from where a short path leads back to the route.
Short and rewarding tour
