Piastorba (Sondrio)

Piastorba is located directly above Sondrio at the entrance to Valmalenco and offers a first-class singletrail descent that rides directly into the center of Sondrio.

Description

From Sondrio, you should ideally take a bike shuttle up to Ligari. Theoretically, the entire ascent could also be shuttled by buying a ticket (5 euros) from the ticket machine in Ligari. As a rule, however, you climb up the little road from Ligari under your own steam, overcoming a little more than 500 meters in altitude. In Forcola there is a good view of Valmalenco and up to Piz Palü until the culmination point is reached a little later.

The descent begins harmlessly on a gravel road that rides to the alpine settlement of Piastorba. This is where the super trail down to Ligari begins: fast, flowing, varied. In the S2 area with some S3 sections, you fly towards the village where you started the ascent. Just after Ligari, the singletrail continues. You continue in the same manner through the forest until you turn into a gravel road after a total of 930 vertical meters. Now it's time for another climb, 100 meters up to the transmission antennas at Triangia. These form the starting point for the fun final descent to Sondrio, which initially rides through the steep southern flanks and finally leads through the residential area of Sant'Anna to the city center of Sondrio.
