The Dosso Morandi is located on the northern flanks of the Valtellina near Sondrio and offers a mountain bike route far off the beaten track.

Description

The ascent of the tour is characterized by an asphalt road that winds its way up the northern side of the Valtellina near Sondrio in countless hairpin bends. In this way, just over 1300 meters of altitude are covered in one go. At Alp Arale, the surface changes from asphalt to gravel until a poorly recognizable single trail branches off to the left. Follow this and it soon becomes smooth and easy to ride. This is how you traverse to Dosso Morandi. The summit is not very spectacular - it is not much more than a forest clearing.

The descent, on the other hand, is spectacular. A very steep single trail, which is also used by trial motorcyclists, leads down to Foppa. From here, you have a wonderful view of the central Valtellina. You roll downhill for a while on the asphalt road, but the singletrail shown on the map is overgrown and practically unrideable. This changes at the altitude mark of 930 meters above sea level. The trail that branches off to the left is good and varied to ride and sometimes leads steeply down to the valley floor. You finally roll back to the starting point on the country road and the Veltliner cycle path.
