Seilbrücken-Trail Cavaglia

Vivabike Seilbrücke

The rope bridge trail, also known as Ciak si gira, is one of the trail highlights in Valposchiavo. The descent impresses with a great mix of flow and technical riding challenges, but the secret star of the route is the unique bike rope bridge.

Description

The short rope bridge adventure starts at the train station in Cavaglia. After a few minutes down the valley, you will see the famous glacier mills "Il Giardino dei Ghiacciai", then a short stretch along the railroad line before the trail fun really begins. The descent through the sparse forest alternates with naturally flowing and technically demanding sections. Before you reach the railroad line again, the trail turns sharply to the north. After a short pedal section, you reach the wild Cavagliasch and the rope bridge. This is not built for transporting people, but to carry mountain bikes comfortably over the torrent. You then cross the Cavagliasch on foot over the boulders. Once you reach the other side, the trail rides again in a flowing and challenging manner towards San Carlo, past the water pipe of the power station and then under the railroad line. The most challenging section follows shortly before the valley floor and once again demands your full focus. To avoid having to ride back on the road, change sides of the valley in San Carlo, climb up to Somaino and then branch off in the direction of Mulinel, where a trail leads back to Poschiavo.

No road closures, no construction sites. Based on the riding difficulty rating of 5, I had expected a lot more difficult sections. But any sections you don't want to ride can easily be walked.

The entire route from Mulinel to Poschiavo has been closed since 29.7.2024 due to the risk of falling rocks. There is no detour there, we wanted to drive in from a little higher up today, a local advised us not to take the route shown here because of the many trees lying across. But no matter which option, you would always have to ride the closed section.

Does the rope bridge still exist?

hello
i did the tour last week at the weekend. the trail is currently closed (there are about 3-4 closures) due to a construction site. however, the closures can be easily avoided at the weekend ;-)
trail very cool; technically 1a!

yes, the rope bridge is still there, but today it was not possible to cross the stream because they are probably draining the water instead of using it. And it's still cordoned off too.

The trail can be ridden normally again. There is still a construction site, but no barriers.

Please note: the trail is currently closed after the river crossing due to construction work by Repower. Alternatively, instead of riding to Cavagliasch, continue to the railroad line at Foppi di Cadera and continue the route as on the "Bernina-Poschiavo (Alp Grüm)" tour.
