Palinkopf & Höllspitze
Description
The Idalpe high above Ischgl is the hub for bikers. Some take the lift up here with a big grin on their face, others whizz through the flow trails with an even bigger grin, while others enjoy a drink on the terrace of the inn. Even if the 0.33 Almdudler costs four euros fifty - the "Silvretta Bike Arena" is worth the money. It's like playing without limits at the highest level. Clever: with the "Silvretta Card", which every overnight guest receives free of charge when checking in, you can use the lifts as often as you like. In just a few minutes, you can gondola from Ischgl (1376 m) up to the touring paradise around the Idalpe and on to the border ridge with Samnaun. After riding on a knife-edge up to the Greitspitze (2872 m) and the Salaaser Kopf (2744 m) - depending on your preference on a wide road or on narrow trails with a few uphill technical challenges - you circle the Höllspitze and sail down through the Schwarzwand into the Fimbertal valley on some easy S1 to S2 trails. Caution: Shortly before the Höllboden-Alm, an inconspicuous trail branches off to the left to the Sassgalunkopf (2265 m). This includes a short uphill push. If you miss the turn-off, you will be sharing the wide road with excavators and trucks. That's the ugly downside of mega ski resorts like Ischgl: if you want to shine in winter, you have to work hard in summer. However, to take your eyes off the major summer construction sites in the ski area, the people of Ischgl have carved plenty of fine trails into the ski slopes. A mandatory stop on the narrow trail to Fimberbach: the legendary "Paznauer Taja" après-ski hut. It's just as well that after the (naturally) alcohol-free après-beer, the only thing left on the agenda is rolling out. Passing the Schwarzwasser See lake, you head back to Ischgl at high speed. If you're still in the mood, you can be chauffeured back up to the Idalpe with your Silvretta Card. And treat yourself to a Château Pétrus 2012, a 0.75-liter bottle of which costs a paltry 4575 euros. Or would it be better to buy a new bike...?

Tour made on 04.09.2023. A great trail up to the Salaaser Kopf. I missed the trail around the Höllspitze, would recommend riding down to the Idalpe and taking the trail to the Lange Wandbahn (cable car station).
