Ischgl Iron Bike
Description
The hub of the Ischgl Iron Bike is the village of Ischgl. There are various competition routes to choose from, the long version starts with a loop through the Paznaun valley up to almost Galtür and then back to Ischgl on the opposite side of the valley. This section is exclusively on gravel roads and also includes the 500-metre ascent to Maißwald.
Back in Ischgl, the second loop begins with the long ascent to the Salaaser Kopf. This adds up to almost 1500 vertical meters, including the Idalpe. From the Salaaser Kopf we descend into Switzerland, first on the beautiful Zeblas Trail, then on a gravel road down to Samnaun. And thus to the starting point of the long ascent back towards Austria. It's 1000 meters in altitude to the Flimjoch, where the finale is a lot of trail fun. Especially if you can enjoy it at all, given the exertions of the past. The Flimjoch trail serves as the start, followed a little later by the Velill trail. In this way, you head directly towards the village of Ischgl and thus the finish arch. Incidentally, the winning time in 2025 was just 3:43 hours.
