Clap del Pissol
Description
The route starts in the village of Giais. From here, the route climbs steadily uphill through beech forests for a few hairpin bends - typical of a tour of the Italian foothills of the Alps. After the first few hairpin bends and a few meters in altitude, you have a fantastic view towards Maniago and the Mediterranean Sea. You leave the forest road past the Casera Palussa and then push/pedal uphill before briefly crossing the Sentiero 988 Giais. This is used as a short intermediate downhill to Casera Britol and then another uphill, followed by a crossing of the Canale Framoso before the real descent onto the Sentiero dell acquedotto di Clap del Pissol begins.
The trail is rated S1 to S2 and is somewhat exposed in some places, including a rather interesting bridge crossing. The meters of depth are "destroyed" here. In this manner, the route descends steadily along the southern slopes before finally arriving back at the starting point in Giais. All in all, this is a challenging, appealing and varied tour, but it is not recommended in the summer months as the temperatures on the southern slopes are very high. However, the tour is perfect as a spring and fall tour.
