Monte Jouf
Description
From Maniago, you can either ride directly up to Malga Jouf past the Castello and on gravel hairpin bend after hairpin bend the next seven kilometers up to the plateau and finally to the Punto Panoramico del Monte Jouf. Or you can take the little road to Poffabro, then the mountain road up to Forcella di Pala Barzana and along a gravel road from the north to Malga Jouf. Up here you get a great view of the Carnic Alps in nearby Slovenia. The view at the Punto Panoramico del Monte Jouf is sensational and you can take a short break before starting the trail.
The trail begins on a stony forest floor with hairpin bends and then turns left into the forest. Along the slope, it is very steep in places. A head for heights is an advantage. The wonderful forest floor makes the tour a dream. You briefly come to a forest road and then straight on to the next trail section. Partly flowing, partly very steep, you make good progress. Until you enter the Mirtilli trail at the paraglider launch site, where the trail becomes faster, although it is not very wide. After a few bends, you enter the "Full Gas" trail. An easy natural trail. The name says it all: fast but careful, the trail is really fun. The stones and run are cleanly removed from the trail, so you can let it fly until you reach the panorama trail. There are now many variants, here you ride into the Barabarossa Trail after a short counter-climb. You descend the steep steps just as quickly and soon emerge in Maniago.
