Forchia di Meduno

Forchia di Meduno

From Meduno, we head into the remote Valle Tramonti on an orienteering adventure. Along the reservoir, we come to an abandoned village trail and push the bike via Ombrena until we reach a small flowing trail to Meduno on the back of Monte Valini at Forcia di Meduno.

Description

A scenic tour starts in Meduno. You ride along the SP63 state road into the Valle Tramonti, with a view of the emerald-green Lago dei Tramonti reservoir to the left. At the end of the lake, turn right onto the SP57 and soon turn right again onto a smaller road. Turn right at a junction and then left after 200 meters onto a poorly visible path, pushing the bike up about 80 metres in altitude until you reach a trail again. This is now rideable. There used to be a mountain village here, as the ruins bear witness. You soon come to a forest road and ride along it to Porcia di Medina. A hiking trail branches off to the right here. We keep left and ride this not too difficult trail back to Medina.

The route described above is not recommended. The section where you have to push the bike is quite difficult, and it’s not worth the effort. A much better and faster option—though it doesn’t offer a view of the lake—is the route along the road toward Valinis.
