Monte Ciaurlec – Meduno CAI 819
Description
The starting point is the small village of Travesio. Here the route is relatively relaxed at first, later climbing steadily on a moderate gradient on asphalt. Towards Borgo Praforte sul Cjaurlec, the route is relatively steep overall before switching to gravel below Col Plait and following a cart track that increasingly mutates into a trail towards Casera Sinich. A very selective ascent, which is mostly pushed on a biobike, is a real treat for technically minded uphillers on an e-bike. At the Casera Sinich, the uphill turns completely into a trail and is relatively easy to ride in places on an e-bike, can be mastered in places by pushing, and almost mostly has to be pushed or carried on a biobike. The summit of Monte Ciaurlec itself can only be reached on foot for the last 10-15 meters. In spring and fall, when the vegetation has died back, you have a good view of the foothills of the Alps, the Tagliamento and the Mediterranean on the horizon. The trail is an absolute highlight. Initially, it is a relaxed ride through meadows, later turning completely into a flow trail on difficulty S1, S2 towards Sierliz. A never-ending descent leads towards Monte Valinis, Rifugio Valinis. Here again, another one is added. An old mule track below Monte Ciavoleit leads for what feels like half an eternity towards Meduno. Breathtaking trail sections are ridden for tens of kilometers, with difficulty levels S2, S2+, S3 in places. Once you arrive in Meduno/Sottomonte, the route takes you back to the starting point on side roads and trail sections.
