Monte Jouf – Dalla Croce

Monte Jouf

This grandiose tour rides up Monte Jouf; via the Dalla Croce Trail, you can enjoy the countless trails to Maniago.

Description

From Maniago, you can either ride directly up to Malga Jouf, past the Castello and up the next seven kilometers to the plateau on gravel, hairpin bend after hairpin bend. Or you can take the little road to Poffabro, then the mountain road up to Forcella di Pala Barzana and along a gravel road from the north to Malga Jouf. Up here you get a great view of the Carnic Alps in nearby Slovenia.

On the plateau, take the steep cart track towards Monte Jouf. A path soon turns off to the left, which you follow over the crest and soon the Dalla Croce Trail begins. Flowing sections on soft forest soil alternate with steep steps and rooty passages. You cross the forest road a few times, surfing endlessly downhill until you reach the tarred road above the castle again. Roll down this until you turn left onto the next trail. You ride through canyon-like terrain at a rapid and somewhat rockier pace and before you know it, you're back in Maniago.
