Karspitz (Zillertal)

The Karspitze in the western Kitzbühel Alps offers a panoramic ascent and a sometimes technically challenging descent, which rides through a well-designed bike park in the lower section.

Description

The mountain bike tour starts at the valley station of the Rosenalmbahn cable car below the Rohrberg in Zell am Ziller and offers a challenging and scenically impressive route. From the starting point, the route rides up the Gerlosberg on asphalt, with a moderate to moderate gradient. This official cycle route continues to the Kreuzwiesenalm, a picturesque alpine pasture that not only offers a breathtaking mountain panorama, but is also ideal for a short break in summer.

After the alpine pasture, the trail follows the Kreuzwiesen-X-Press feeder road, which rides in serpentines above the vegetation line up to the mountain station. The last few meters to the summit of the Karspitze at 2264 metres above sea level have to be covered by pushing. The view from here stretches across the majestic Kitzbühel Alps and offers spectacular panoramic views.

The descent from the summit is between difficulty levels S2 and S3 and requires careful line selection and riding with foresight. The trail leads along hiking trail number 10 above the vegetation line, where you can enjoy far-reaching views. Further down, hairpin bends and meadow paths follow before you enter the forest again and wind your way up to the Rosenalmbahn mountain station. This section offers flowing sections as well as more technically challenging hairpin bends.

The last section of the tour rides through the official bike park, the Wiesenalm Trail, a naturally designed trail with North Shore elements, steep bends and various exciting sections. This route takes you back to the starting point after an adventurous and varied ride.
