Resterhöhe
Description
The tour starts in the small village of Mühlbach, located between the Resterkogel and the Wildkogel. From here, you first pedal on asphalt through the residential area and work your way up the southern slopes, altitude meter by altitude meter. After a while, a classic forest road on gravel leads back onto asphalt and the route runs through spruce forests until you reach the upper area and the Resterhöhe reservoir. This artificial lake serves the snowmaking facilities of the Kitzbühel ski area. It marks the way to the Resterhöhe, the highest point of the tour.
The Resterkogel is heavily developed by ski resorts on the north and east sides, but is free of any artificial structures in the south. Culinary delights are provided, and there is a refreshment stop here. You then roll past the reservoir, take a short gravel transfer path and then turn right onto the hiking trail towards Mühlbach.
A flowing and inviting trail with difficulty level S2 leads steadily downhill. In some places, you can also see artificial structures such as jumps built by the local biking scene, which you can use. However, these jumps should be inspected in advance, as some of them have very challenging landings. After a descent of over 1000 meters in altitude, you finally reach the urban area again above the country road and pedal back to the starting point.
Hint Shuttle: The Panoramabahn Kitzbühel Alps is located nearby. If you use this, you can save yourself the entire uphill.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.
