Geißstein-Trail & Wüstlau-Trail
Description
The starting point of the tour is Kaprun. Here you have the option of either using the gondola as a shuttle or pedaling to the start of the trail yourself. In the second variant, there are around 1910 meters of altitude to conquer over a length of 14 kilometers (including an intermediate descent on gravel over around 200 meters of altitude).
The route initially rides steadily uphill on a forest road to the Dreiwallnerhöhe. You then roll down the forest road and have the last ascent ahead of you before reaching the highest point of the tour: the mountain station of the cable car (Alpincenter). Here, visitors can expect not only culinary delights, but also quite memorable engineering structures.
The Geißstein Trail starts at the Alpincenter and impresses with its difficulty levels S2 and S3 as well as a magnificent view of the Kitzsteinhorn and the glacier. The trail is very natural and yet easy to ride as you wind your way down, altitude meter by altitude meter. In the middle section, you then switch to the Wüstlau trail, which is a little easier but still has a few hairpin bends as you ride back down into the valley. After returning to the valley, you return to the starting point.
All in all, this trail alternative offers a fascinating experience, especially on hot summer days. However, the dryness of the trail should be taken into account, as it can become more challenging in wet conditions.

If you do the ascent by muscle power, you have a scenic ascent with wonderful views and are even happier about these first-class, mostly natural trails, which are even largely legal (a special feature for Austria).
Top tour!
