Schmittenhöhe - Panorama-Trail
Description
The tour starts in Piesendorf. On the official Hochsonnbergbahn - Pinzgauerhütte cycle route, it feels like half an eternity on asphalt, gravel and a classic forest highway to the so-called Kettingtörl. You can already get an idea of the panorama that awaits you at the top. The ski slope then leads towards Kettingkopf and then the so-called Pinzgau walk begins. This trail is located between Niedernsill and Zell am See, as well as Saalbach and Viehhofen. This section of the route is particularly fabulous in the fall. The trail is somewhat challenging in places and is only S1 on the downhill, but S2 and S3 sections on the uphill. The descent towards Vitalisweg begins below the Hochsonnberg. Between difficulty S1 and almost S2, it goes down the entire ridge, repeatedly crossing the forest road. In the middle section, there are also a few hairpin bends that make the trail more inviting. Shortly above the hamlets and farms, you join the asphalt road, roll down it a few meters and then come to the trail cut-offs that finally lead you to Niedernsill. From Niedernsill, the cycle route along the Salzach back to Piesendorf is on asphalt.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.
