Monte Grappa – Rifugio Ardosetta

Monte Grappa

Monte Grappa is the classic military road at the southern end of the Alps. Once you reach this giant block, you'll want to stay for a week. This tour combines an easy ascent towards Monte Grappa -&nbspbut you don't reach the summit! - with a tamer but all the more spectacular trail descent.

Description

You will look in vain for easy warm-up cranks on the mighty Monte Grappa. You can easily shift down a gear from any of the valley towns. This is also the case on the serpentine ride up to the panoramic Rifugio Ardosetta. From the start at the Hotel Garden Relais in Borso del Grappa (160 m), it's straight down to business! A good 700 meters in altitude await you on a winding asphalt road (SP 140) to C.ra Sassetti (916 m). Later you follow a winding ex-military path (Sentiero 100) and various scenic tarred roads via the Rifugio Val Rossa (1044 m), Piedur (1147 m) and the Agritur Malga Cason Vecio to the Rifugio Ardosetta. Here, on the south-facing sun terrace, you can stop for a bite to eat, relax, watch TV - and if you're running late, you can even spend the night. From up here, the view of the valley basin, Crespano del Grappa 1200 meters below and the Adriatic Sea is simply breathtaking. On a clear fall day, you can even see Venice. But after work and contemplation, pleasure awaits! Because from up here - hard to imagine, but true - a rideable trail leads down to the plain south of the Grappa. At a crossroads (1379 m), you come to the magnificent single trail called Sentiero 151, which winds its way down into the depths in a never-ending hairpin bend fest. The great thing: Although this trail is spectacular and quite exposed carved into the steep slope, it is on the tame side in terms of riding technique (S1). After the wonder of the bends, you can make the sign of the cross at the chapel of San Liberale (602 m) and take a deep breath before rolling back to the starting point of the tour in Borso del Grappa via Vivaio Forestali (458 m) and Cassànego (386 m).
