Monte Salubio

Monte Salubio

Monte Salubio is a rather inconspicuous elevation near Borgo Valsugana. The mountain is characterized by historic paths and a varied trail descent in the middle section.

Description

The route starts in Telve, a small village above Borgo Valsugana. From here, follow the Strada Provinciale del Passo del Manghen steadily uphill. At the hamlet of Moleti, take the winding road (still on asphalt) to Musiera di Sotto. From Musiera di Sotto, the route continues to Musiera di Sopra Vinante and then along a war path from the First World War almost to the summit of Monte Salubio. The uphill is relatively easy to pedal and the road has been completely cleared after the heavy storm in 2018 and is therefore perfectly passable. About 50 meters below the summit, pedalling comes to an end and the bike has to be pushed or carried up to the highest point of the tour. The view itself is magnificent due to the windthrow from 2018. Vast areas were devastated here and therefore offer fantastic views. The entire Valsugana to the south lies at your feet here, as do the mountain ranges to the north.

The descent is initially very difficult at S2 and S3 level up to the saddle of the military road. The uphill is then reversed to a downhill and the route descends steadily on difficulty S1 to the Ristorante al Laghetto. After passing the small lake, you head for the trail finale. On a historic mule track, the trail descends on difficulty S2, occasionally S3. The descent ends past Spiado and into Campestrini. There is then a short trail interlude on a flow section before returning to the starting point in Telve.

Status 09.12.2025: Attention, the trail just below the Laghetto is closed due to forest work - really no way through. Alternative descents are rare and not fun. Currently not recommended.
