Sommi -Caldonazzo

The small Sommi mountain near Lake Caldonazzo offers a short but panoramic and trail-filling tour in Valsugana.

Description

You start in Caldonazzo. From here, the route follows the cycle path along the main road, before turning left at the traffic circle just before the lakeshore and climbing steadily uphill to Campregheri. From the small mountain village, you pedal on gravel in the idyllic forest to below the summit of Sommi, before reaching a panoramic point on the short detour to the left. This offers views of the Valsugana and Lake Caldonazzo. Back on the route, the descent starts immediately. On difficulty level S2, you rush steadily downhill along a forest path. You then come to another forest road, known as a strada bianca in Italian, and continue along this until you reach the Parco Archeologico dei Sicconi. This is a historical monument in the area and is known for its excavations. There is also a small bar here. After a few meters, you return to the forest road and take the downhill with the same level of difficulty as before as a descent to Caldonazzo. An ideal short tour, which is also suitable in summer, but can be a little overgrown in places.
