Padauner Kogel
Description
Start in Gries am Brenner. Passing historic buildings on the railroad line, the route continues to Ritten, initially on asphalt, later on gravel, idyllically through the forest to the alpine buildings, where the forest thins out. From this point, you can only make progress by pushing/carrying your bike and fight your way up the last few meters to the summit of the Padauner Kogel (2066 meters above sea level). Unforgettable and magnificent views to the south towards the main Alpine ridge, to the north as far as the Nordkette in Innsbruck, as well as into the Gschnitztal, Valsertal and Navisertal valleys open up.
Another highlight is the descent. In the upper section, the ascent variant leads down to the Larcher mountain hut. Difficulty levels S1 to S2, as well as S3 in places, provide a perfect mix. Continue past the chapel of the Blind Lord God along a historic, brick path with difficulty levels S1 to S2 until shortly before the Brennersee lake. After a few meters on the main road, you leave it, briefly take a side road and then surf it constantly downhill for the last few meters to the starting point before completing the loop.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.

The descent from the chapel to the Blind Lord is currently closed. Wind breakage from the past and new road construction have moved the path. I couldn't find out whether there is a new connection, perhaps the municipality of Gries am Brenner knows more.
