Vennspitze
Description
The tour starts in St. Jodok am Brenner. From here, the route continues on asphalt into the Valser Tail and then steadily uphill to the Alpengasthaus Steckholzer (Padaun). Before that, you change to the Padaun mountain toboggan run and pedal along it to the Padaun stream crossing. The bike then lands on the back and is carried up to the highest point of the tour on the Vennspitze. The summit itself offers a magnificent view and a full and challenging descent.
It is already very steep at the beginning and difficulty level S3 is reached right from the start. It remains in this style, although the S2 sections predominate in places. Along the Padauner Bach stream, the trail becomes somewhat easier and remains at S1/S2 level. Over the Padauner Sattel, you then join an old mule track in the direction of Brenner and wind your way down. Once you have briefly reached the Brenner road, you roll off it, pass through Gries and finally return to St. Jodok am Brenner. Alternatively, a descent at the Steckholzer alpine inn would also be possible, although this variant is somewhat washed out and overgrown.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.
