Rengglipass | Ride MTB

Rengglipass

This little-known mountain bike tour rides from Aeschi to Interlaken with a steep carrying passage up to the Rengglipass and a long trail through the Saxettal valley.

Description

The tour starts in the village of Aeschi, which can be reached by local bus from Spiez. You climb from Aeschiried into the Suldtal valley to Mittelbergalp. Now you have to shoulder your bike over 300 meters in altitude to the Rengglipass. The inconspicuous pass offers a wonderful view of the Bernese Alps and Lake Brienz. The descent into the Saxettal valley is primarily on single trails across the mountain road and rides along the Saxetenbach stream to the lowest houses in the village of Saxeten. Now follow the road for a while, but then turn right onto a forest path and take the single trail downhill to Wilderswil. Footpaths take you to the Rugenbräu brewery and immediately afterwards you head towards Interlaken on a final singletrail.

The path from Spiez to the Tragpassage is very beautiful despite the ascent and the landscape really has something to offer :) After the strenuous "trudge", a very friendly restaurant awaits you at the top, offering the necessary refreshments. (No idea what the opening times are). Down to Interlaken I would have expected slightly nicer trails and less road. All in all 6/10 points.

The altitude is wrong, it should be around 1,300 meters. As a round trip from Spiez 50km and 1'590hm.
There are lots of steps and fences on the trails on the descent. In my opinion, it is very rough and 'rough'. I would have expected much better trails as a 'reward' for the dragging.
