Fritz-Pflaum-Hütte
Description
The tour starts at the parking lot in Kaiserbachtal. From here, the route is initially relaxed on asphalt heading west out of the valley to the Griesener Alm. The surface then changes to gravel, followed by a very crisp uphill towards Stripsenjoch. Shortly before the pass, turn left and take the hiking trail towards the Fritz-Pflaum-Hütte. From this point on, it's all about pushing and carrying. Step by step, you fight your way up above the vegetation line with impressive views - amidst rugged rock formations, you finally reach the Fritz-Pflaum-Hütte at 1865 meters above sea level. The hut is a self-catering hut and is located in an absolutely alpine setting - pure mountain bike flair.
The descent then begins. With a difficulty level of S2 to S3, the trail is aimed at technically experienced bikers. A clean hairpin bend technique is a must here - countless tight bends demand full focus. In the lower section, there are short pushing passages at a crossing, especially in wet weather conditions, as some root passages here can be extremely slippery. You then return to the Kaiserbach valley, above the Griesener Alm, use a few more trail cut-offs and then follow the riverside path along the river back to the starting point.
Note: The tour should be completed outside of vacation periods and on weekdays, as the area is otherwise very busy.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.
