Monbiel-Vereina | Ride MTB

Monbiel-Vereina

The top end of the Prättigau near Klosters offers a wild landscape and bike routes for every level of difficulty.

Description

From the center of Klosters, ride the first few meters on the main road towards Davos, then turn off towards the "Selfranga" part of the village. At the end of the group of houses, a forest path branches off to the left, which soon turns into a single trail. Follow this high-level trail until it joins an alpine road. On this road you finally reach the Vereina mountain hut far back in the Vereina valley. From the mountain hut, ride downhill on the hiking trails and climb another 150 meters in altitude along the Verstancia stream. At Alp Sparra, a flowing singletrail begins back towards Klosters. After Alp Pardenn, this changes to an alpine road, which you follow until just before the village of Monbiel. At the entrance to the village, take the forest path to the right and keep to the left at the next crossroads, which is now somewhat rougher. The path soon changes to a technically challenging single trail, which becomes smoother after the first hairpin bends and finally takes you to Klosters.

Only rode the club loop. Steep, continuous climb. From Alp Vereina a few meters are still rideable. After that it is very blocked and unrideable as it is too narrow and there are too many blocks. After Frösch we can talk about riding again. Very technical S3-S4.
Basically very beautiful scenery, but the tour is only recommended for very experienced riders who don't mind bumpy passages.

Beautiful scenery, but be sure to take the same road back from Vereina. I find it very difficult to understand why this tour is so downloadable and advertised.

This tour is definitely not recommended, even if you like blocked trails and have a medium to high level of riding technique, you will stress your bike about 400 Elevation loss down from the Vereine hut. The trail there starts off nicely and shows its true colors (unrideable) after you've completed another small climb. Even the second part is no better, at the point where the descent crosses the ascent. The 3 out of 5 rating is also incorrect, a 7 out of 5 would be better. For e-bikers, it is certainly not fun to heave the bike over large boulders. We then skipped the next ascent.

Addendum: At the start of the tour you go through the Zwergenweg, which is prohibited for bikers. You can avoid this by following the Doggiloch road.

The uphill to Veirena haus is steep on the road, until 14 %, with a lot of e-bikers crossing ; not so fun. As written above the downhill from Vereina haus is unridable. 45 mn to carry the bike to Stutzegg, across the rocks. Dangerous, a good place to break an ankle or have a knee injury. Second loop is better. The second downhill from Sparra to Garfun is nice. The uphill in the forest is nice. The last downhill is disappointing: fire roads and tricky parts. I'm not recommanding this tour except for the view. Or do the second loop.

I can only confirm this. I felt exactly the same way...

So, I rode the tour today. To start with, the descent on the hiking trail from the Vereina hut is simply not rideable - even for professionals. Dany Mc Alskin is the only one I trust to be able to hop down it. It's a mystery to me that this trail is being promoted as an MTB route. I advise you all to ride down the same way again, unfortunately. Because I was so angry, I didn't finish riding the tour. Because maybe I would have needed the high hiking boots... The area is beautiful, the first single trail from Selfranga is awesome and then along the Vereina stream is also wonderful. However, the ascent on the narrow road is quite a challenge. But the descent, apart from very few places, is simply unsuitable! Looking at Ride's description of this part, you have to wonder whether anyone has ridden it before... By the way, there were no other tire tracks at any point. I've ridden many of Ride's tours and had similar experiences - but never this blatant. I don't want to go out on a limb, but at least I've done the Bahnentour twice. So I can do a bit of oiling...

With this in mind: Ride - On
