Mont Mary - Zumba-Trail

Mont Mary / Aosta

Mont Mary and the Zumba Trail are two classics just outside Aosta. If you combine these two routes, you get a tour of singletrail superlatives.

Description

From Aosta, it is preferable to take a bike shuttle to the village of Avisod, but the 900 meters in altitude can also be mastered under your own steam. To do this, always follow the country and mountain roads via Villair. The asphalt road comes to an end in Avisod and the route takes you up to Alp Cénevé on a gravel road. This is where the cycling comes to an end and the last 180 meters of altitude have to be conquered on foot. The culmination point of the tour is on a mountain ridge with sensational views of the entire Aosta Valley and the Mont Blanc massif. The descent is difficult in the first section, but then becomes smoother and smoother. The trail leads past Alp Viou to the village of Blavy. Now it's time for another 300 meters of ascent on a gravel road to integrate the Zumba Trail into the route for the return journey to Aosta. This starts at the ruined Alp Prapenaz and lives up to its name: you dance down to Roisan at a fun rhythm and then follow the mountain trail towards Porossan. There are a few more wonderful trail sections before the tour ends right in the center of Aosta.
