Becca France
Description
From Sarre, you climb up the little road towards Etavel, but then keep right and quickly gain altitude over countless hairpin bends. In Verrogne, a short stretch on a gravel road leads to Méod and finally to Vétan. Now it's time to get down to business: the alpine road to Rifugio Fallère is steep and rough, but manageable if you're in decent shape. The break at the inn is well deserved before the descent begins. The trail is marked, but initially not always clearly visible in the meadow. It leads past the Becca France with a counter-ascent, and is well worth a detour on foot to the summit with its excellent view. The descent really gets going below the Becca France. A varied single trail initially winds steeply through the forest to Belon. Now comes the brilliant final section: a rough and technical single trail, but a real treat if you have enough suspension travel.

I rode the trail today. It was simply a dream! Exactly as described. I highly recommend it. The climb is very tough and long, even without an e-bike.
The descent is very steep and technical in places. But with a good bike and solid riding skills, 95 percent of it is rideable. Definitely not for beginners.
Still beautiful at the top, as soon as it gets steep, the trail becomes a deep erosion/riding channel that makes your heart ache. The fallen trees are bypassed in Wild West style. It was no fun for me. Still great for enduro/DH freaks.
I can only confirm that. The upper part, coming from Mont Vallére, is a sensational experience - from Beccaz-France it's a tragedy how a beautiful trail is ridden to pieces - depending on the route chosen, it's good again in the lower part.
Steep ? Yes
Difficult ? Yes
Panorama ? Can't complain
Not exactly my dream tour until then, but it would be ok.
Since some people report trees on the trail, but others had no problems, I assume that there is trail maintenance from time to time. Unfortunately, I didn't get to enjoy it and was glad that I got through at all. One section was only passable with the handlebars turned 90 degrees and the air let out of the fork...

The comments here are very mixed. We spontaneously rode the route instead of the Leyss tour because of the weather. There were eight of us and we all loved the descent! It's also standard for local tour providers. Yes, it's steep, which I don't really like, but the ground was super grippy. There were no trees in the way. Of course, you have to be prepared for some short, steep climbs after the Refugio. But a recommendation from us.
We rode the tour on 11.09.24. Breathtaking tour! Amazing panorama, steep but super beautiful trails, flowier and steeper at the top. Stonier from the tree line with tighter bends. Total riding fun, we loved the tour!
Rode the tour today. By car up to about 900m then up to the beautifully situated hut. Descent to below Becca France cool to ride, then braking orgy and very washed out to above Bellun. No fun.
We rode the tour on 25.07.2020. It was clear from the start that this tour would be difficult after yesterday's Banzai Hammer Trail, so this report may not be entirely objective. We treated ourselves to a shuttle to Verrogne. The climb up to the hut is easy except for a few steep ramps. There are funny carved figures everywhere in the upper part. The trail starts off quite flowy, but is also peppered with counter-climbs. The trail is quite washed out in places. From Becca France onwards, it is usually quite steep and you're constantly slamming on the brakes, and in one section there are also a few trees across the trail. However, these don't bother you for too long. From Bellund it gets really steep and rough again, at times I felt reminded of the hairpin bend massacre on the Portail de Fully. For my taste, this tour was too steep and too rough, an okay tour without the need to repeat it.
I ride a Scott Genius Ultimate and am usually in the head group uphill; downhill I'm always last, by a long way.
We ride this trail yesterday (July 2020) and there were a lot of fallen trees on the downhill path so every 50m you would need to stop and carry your bike over it. The single trail is pretty technical so you will only enjoy it if you have good technical skills. We started in Gressen so in total the ride was approximately 52km. Doable in a day but better start early in the morning. On the way up, somewhere in the middle of the uphill there is a very nice restaurant with some local food, plan a stop there.
Unfortunately a lot of wind break in the trail. Lower part easy to ride.
on 20.09.2017 from Villeneuve / bottom of the valley: I was thrilled. Only pushed briefly to the summit at 2340m above sea level. Descent / technique 4 corresponds to the rating given. At the bottom in Sarre / Blassinod 801 m.a.s.l., however, I was "exhausted"
Great for suitable downhill skiers!
così e cosà
Trail at the beginning inhomogeneous - pushing passages - then much too steep - braking orgy, confirmed. From Bellon, stony. A little more interesting. All in all, not recommendable.
First of all, we were disappointed with the tour. The ascent is tough without the shuttle, with just under 2000 m of ascent.
The trail is very steep, especially at the start, and a pure braking orgy. You are constantly on the brakes and the trail is already very rutted.
From Belon onwards, the trail is a little rougher but not particularly interesting.
Absolutely not recommended. From our point of view
Absolutely top tour. Highly recommended both in terms of scenery and trail experience!
