Ehrenbachhöhe – Kirchberg-Trail
Description
The tour starts at the valley station of the Fleckalmbahn in Kirchberg in Tyrol. Alternatively, you can take the shuttle, use the Mountain Bike Park’s day pass, or—as shown on the map—follow the official bike route via the Lower and Upper Fleckalm to Ehrenbachhöhe or the reservoir. The ascent follows the classic route on asphalt and gravel along the ski resort’s access roads. From the Lower Fleckalm, an impressive view opens up of the Wilder Kaiser, the Brixental Valley, Kitzbühel, and the Kitzbüheler Horn. After climbing just under 1,000 meters in elevation, you reach the reservoir, which is also a great place to cool off in the summer. The route then continues to the Fleckalmbahn and the Ochsalm mountain station, and from there to the so-called Kirchberg Trail.
The trail is about ten kilometers long and ranges from S1 to S2 difficulty. However, due to its length and the relatively steep banked turns, it should not be underestimated. Especially for children and beginners, the route can be challenging in terms of concentration, braking power, and endurance. Overall, you can expect a classic flow trail experience on earthy, sandy terrain with steep berms, some North Shore elements, short climbs, sections on forest roads, and pump track-like passages combined with gentle jumps. The trail continues steadily downhill in this style all the way to the Spertental valley. Afterward, you’ll use the Maierl ascent for a few trail shortcuts before returning to the starting point.
