Baumooskogel (Kalkstein)

Baumooskogel

The Baumooskogel lies high above St. Johann in Tirol and offers a wonderful panorama of the Kitzbühel Alps and the Wilder Kaiser. Even better than the view is the downhill trail

Description

The ascent to the Baumooskogel is quickly told: First you follow the Grossache downstream for a while, but then keep right and head up the mountain on an asphalt road and later on a gravel road. In this way, you pass the Heisenalm and reach a kind of plateau. However, it is still a long way to the Baumooskogel, but you climb undiminished on a gravel road and reach the summit from the north side. It is also possible to ride your bike a little further than the Baumoosalm and then walk the last few meters to the summit. The view from the inconspicuous summit is impressive.

Now it's time for the descent. Follow the ascent route for the first section, but then turn left at the Leitenalm junction - and you will be greeted by a no biking sign on the gravel road. It's up to each individual to decide how to deal with the ban, but the single trail starting a little further down would be a treat for mountain bikers. Slightly sloping and varied, it nestles into the wooded terrain - a top-class fun trail. The trail ends at Aiglsau, but continues immediately after a junction and rides to the edge of the forest not far from St. Johann.

Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.

A very scenic tour. The last section up to the summit is secured by a gate with barbed wire. The trail is quite easy. Only in the lower part are there a few rooty sections that are a little more difficult in terms of riding technique, but can also be bypassed.
