Gaisbergjoch
Description
The starting point of the tour is Kirchberg in Tirol. From here, the relaxed cycle path rides south along the Aschauer Ache towards Aschau. In the area of the hamlet of Kleinseite, follow the Kleinseitweg (official Gaisberg Kobingerhütte cycle route) steadily uphill on asphalt and gravel. The route briefly descends at a medium to moderate gradient below the Harlasangeralm before finally making its way up to the Wiegalm. Here you have the option of ending the tour and starting the downhill or shouldering or pushing your bike up to the Gaisbergjoch. The ascent takes you through mountain pines on limestone and is easy to do. The Gaisbergjoch offers an impressive view of the Kitzbühel Alps and the Hohe Tauern.
The descent runs with a difficulty of S2 to S3 down to the Wiegalm. An interesting mix with some key sections is to be expected. You can stop for refreshments at the Wiegalm and then ride the trail with a difficulty of S1 to S2 towards Brixen im Thale along the Brixenbach stream. Especially in the lower section, just before the end of the valley, the trail becomes flowy and is very easy to ride. The official cycle path then leads back to Kirchberg in Tirol.
For those who only do the tour as far as the Wiegalm, this is easily doable by e-bike. For those tackling the Gaisbergjoch, this is also relatively easy with the push function.
Note: The route is located on Austrian territory and leads over routes that are not approved for mountain bikers. Riding this route on a mountain bike is the responsibility of each individual, in full awareness of the legal situation.
