Zuozer Trail-Runde
Description
The tour starts on the road up towards the Albula Pass. Immediately after Alp Alesch, you take a singletrail on the right that rides up to the culmination point (2260 meters above sea level) at the avalanche protection structures. The ascent trail is easy to ride at first, but in the second part the bike has to be pushed again and again. You are rewarded with a fantastic view down to the expansive valley floor of the Upper Engadin.
The easy S2 downhill trail winds its way down over the ridge to the Engadin High Trail (Via Engiada). Continue along this trail, then turn right to the Hotel Castell and reach the picturesque village center of Zuoz. Continue down along the valley floor and a little later turn into the Varusch side valley. The ascent to Alp Vaüglia is necessary to be able to turn into the long singletrail return trip. This fantastic and wonderfully flowing trail nestles endlessly along the wooded northern flank of the Upper Engadine. However, the constant ups and downs require a lot of remaining energy reserves. This ten-kilometre section forms the brilliant and little-known final section of this trail gem in the Upper Engadine.

I did the tour on 02.07.2024 because there was still a lot of snow in the high Alps. So it was a plan B tour. And what a tour.
Sure, the ascent on the Albula Pass road wasn't exactly the highlight, but as there was very little traffic, it was quite comfortable. The ascent trail from Alp Alesch is probably 70% rideable for very experienced riders. However, there are always higher steps and tree trunks (or stumps...?).
But the subsequent descent was awesome. A few tight hairpin bends on a towel-wide trail of spruce needles. Wonderful! The trail itself isn't technically very demanding, but the hairpin bends are. The view is also breathtaking.
Then, as the previous speaker mentioned, there is a transfer route to Punt Vaüglia that you can really enjoy.
From Punt Vaüglia, you start on the forest road and then turn right (and then left) onto a wonderful trail. Flat, but always a bit up and down. Really beautiful. The high-level trail at Bagn da L'Uors then follows the contour line beautifully.
It's best not to do this trail at the weekend, as there are probably quite a few hikers doing the high trail then. I only had to overtake two hikers.
All in all, a beautiful tour, which is 54 km from Celerina. I can only recommend it.
I recommend starting on the Albula Pass at the Albula Trail to get some momentum into the tour at the beginning. From Alp Alesch to Castell, the trail was not much fun for me. The ascent on the singletrail is difficult to ride, as you constantly have to dismount to get over tree stumps and roots. The descent to Castell would be nice in itself, but the hairpin bends were too tight for me. Even with the rear wheel offset, I didn't manage to master the hairpin bends. They are very narrow and slippery. After Castell, you come to a fun single trail as far as Zuoz. This is followed by a leisurely ride on tarred and gravel roads to Punt Vaüglia. This part is rather boring. What follows are some single trails with regular climbs. The tour is certainly not a highlight, but it is certainly a great alternative in the fall when there is too much snow at higher altitudes. I would give the overall impression a 4/6 rather than a 5/6.
