Vigljoch - Steinbruch-Trail
Description
The starting point of the tour is the Aschbachbahn valley station in Rabland. This takes you up the first 850 meters in altitude to Aschbach. You then follow a gravel road up to the Vigljoch (almost 400 meters in altitude) and then roll over to the small mountain lake with the peculiar name "Schwarze Lacke". Right behind it, the singletrail fun begins with the panorama trail. This leads through the steep terrain high above Merano to the chairlift on the south-east side of the Vigljoch. In the Schuss, you head to the valley station and then turn left onto the Eggersteig - a wonderful trail parallel to the Panoramaweg. In Egger, you have to climb another short stretch on a gravel path until the quarry trail leads down to the right. This first-class single trail rides past the large quarries and below Oberbrunn you reach a small mountain road. Follow this downhill for a while and then turn left onto the final single trail downhill to the starting point at the Aschbachbahn valley station.

A really cool, well-shaped, and smooth trail in Stuanbruch. Even the black sections are manageable for a skilled mountain biker in dry conditions. Be sure to start the trail at the top near Seespitz. Thanks to the trail crew!
Hi everyone,
I rode today, the detour to the left after the cable car is later marked with a no cycling sign. I then followed the asphalt road to the right (you only lose a short 'uphill section').
Regards
Matthias
Rode the tour today: There were hardly any hikers on the trail. The trails are great, most of them are great for bouldering, only in the last trail are there two crisp sections.
I went all the way up again at the point of the tour where you turn into the Stoanbruch trail - it was definitely worth it.
In total, the tour has 1650 vertical meters if you do without the cable car.
I rode the tour on May 25, 2023. As the lift/chairlift on the south side was being overhauled/converted, there were no people on the mountain. The tour should not be ridden on a weekend as it is a popular destination for locals and tourists. Hiking trails and trails were great to ride. The description is not bad. The view is amazing!
I would rate the last trail as more difficult than S3. It's quite steep and blocked. When it's wet, it's certainly a lot more difficult. But with 150/160 mm travel it's great fun :-)
I wouldn't recommend the tour, there are virtually no single trails at the top, except for a short section on the panorama trail. It's very beautiful and that's why there were so many hikers today. It's better to enjoy the panorama on foot.
The second part of the now official steinbruch trail is great and also has 2.3 crunchy sections. But you can also pedal up the few 100m and ride the trail.
The quarry trail was rerouted and "defused". The single trail from the mountain road (the best part of this tour) was signposted with a driving ban...
