Medergen

The Medergenalp near Arosa is considered one of the most beautiful Walser settlements in Graubünden and is also popular with mountain bikers. This route takes you around the upper Schanfigg from Arosa and includes two of the region's major highlights, the Ochsenalp and the Medergenalp.

Description

If you want to complete the tour with more downhill than uphill, start the Medergen round tour through the upper Schanfigg from the Weisshorn summit near Arosa and take the gondola lift. However, the tour can also be tackled under your own steam from Arosa, via Maran and Prätschalp to Ochsenalp. On the Weisshorn variant, the tour begins with a singletrail descent along the northern ridge past Sattelalp and Scheidegg. After the Ochsenalp, you descend primarily on single trails to the road on the outskirts of Tschiertschen. The downhill fun continues to the bridge over the Plessur at Molinis. Now the ascent to Medergen begins. This leads mainly on gravel roads via Litzirüti, overcoming almost 1000 meters in altitude. You can then recharge your batteries at the mountain inn in Medergen before embarking on the well-known and wonderful singletrail descent to the Arosa reservoir. This forms the brilliant final bouquet of the tour, the only thing left to do is to return to Arosa on the little road.
