Stams

The scenic tour to Stams and the Mittagplatte near Valzeina north of Chur offers trail fun combined with an impressive landscape.

Description

From Trimmis, first follow the mountain road via Obersays to the alpine settlement of Stams with its mountain inn. The view of the Chur Rhine Valley and the Prättigau beyond is spectacular. A trail takes you uphill again for a while before descending towards Valzeina. The second ascent is in the direction of Mittagplatte. We recommend riding up to the transmitter antenna for the panorama - even if the descent begins a little below. The downhill trail winds its way down the steep terrain curve by curve, is technically difficult at first, but then becomes increasingly smoother and faster. After shooting through the "gorge", the last right-hand bend before Zizers branches off onto a forest trail that rides back to Trimmis via Molinära.

- up everything on tar or concrete slabs.
- Very nice view. From the antenna towards the Rhine valley but not much seen (trees).
- Descent to Stams approx. 9.8 km, exit forest across the meadow, no path found, kept to the right edge.
Start from Chur, at the end a little over 1,700 meters in altitude
