Monte Jafferau
Description
The tour begins in the Susa Valley (Valle di Susa) near the village of Oulx. From here, it's a few meters along the road towards Plan Rival and from there it feels like half an eternity on a military road to the Rochers de l'Aigle mountain ridge. The road winds spectacularly up the entire south side to the pass crossing and offers tremendous views of the Susertal and the surrounding mountains. The tour is particularly suitable as an introduction to the area or as an explorer and familiarization tour in the Susertal. There is a tunnel crossing in the upper section, although it should be noted that this is dangerous to cross. It is also possible to bypass the entire road on a path. Once on the mountain ridge, the route climbs steadily up a steep gravel road to Monte Jafferau. At the summit, you can explore a huge fortification that was extended by the Vallo Alpino. And the view couldn't be better - with good visibility, countless mountain peaks can be seen.
As far as the upcoming descent is concerned, the upper section starts with alpine Western Alps flair, with a maximum difficulty of S2. The trail continues south along the ridge to Grange Suppas. The entire trail is a real treat: steep bends, berms, flow passages and hairpin bends alternate and make bikers' hearts beat faster. Between Grange Suppas, you take the trail towards Foens and finally arrive back at the main road in Costans. Here you take the cycle path and wind your way back along the stream to Oulx, the starting point of the tour.
In Oulx itself, you can take advantage of the local restaurants to round off a classic Western Alps day in comfort. The tour is particularly suitable for e-mountain bikers, as the long climbs save a considerable amount of time. There are also no carrying sections.

Difficult ascent, as the gravely ground takes extra energy. The trail itself is great, even if there is a lot of rubble in it.
Wonderful tour!
Attention: motorized vehicles are only allowed to ride on the ascent road on Wednesday and Saturday. Accordingly, these days should be avoided by bike.
We were up there on Thursday and we were overtaken by several cars and motorcycles. I didn't see any signs saying that the road is only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
