Felalphorn

The Feldalphorn in the middle of the Kitzbühel Alps impresses with a varied trail descent in the middle of a fantastic mountain panorama.

Description

The tour starts in Wörgl and initially rides along the official cycle route on gravel steadily uphill towards Zauberwinkel. Winding serpentine after serpentine upwards until you finally reach Oberau. From Zauberwinkel, the surface changes back to asphalt and you ride steadily uphill in this way until you reach Horlerstiege. The asphalt road ends here and a forest path begins, which leads to the Baumgartenalm.

After a short downhill on gravel at the Baumgartenalm, you tackle the final ascent to the Vordere Feldalm. On the way, you can already enjoy impressive panoramic views in all directions. The ascent to the summit begins in the area of the Feldalm, which later also serves as a downhill route. You have to push or carry your bike for around 200 meters up to the summit (1923 meters above sea level). The summit cross marks the highest point and offers a particularly impressive view, especially in autumn.

The descent begins directly at the summit cross and rides to the junction of the feeder trail between the Feldalm and the hiking trail. The difficulty here is between S2 and S3, with a few key sections. After a short section on gravel, the Kammweg follows, a cross-country single trail up to the Horlerstiege. Here too, the difficulty ranges between S2 and S3 in places.

At the Horlerstiege, you cross a high trail to the Ferting Holzalm and then ride down to Oberau via a single trail. This trail has a maximum difficulty of S2 and is easier to ride than the upper section. Pass the MTB training area and take the forest edge path to get directly to Oberau. From Oberau, you then take the familiar ascent variant back to Zauberwinkel and finally via the "Schöne Aussicht" trail with difficulty level S1, occasionally S2, back to the starting point in Wörgl.

Note: The tour should preferably be undertaken on dry days, as the ridge crossing in the upper section is not easy to ride in wet conditions, especially on the roots. Alternatively, the tour can be started directly in the Wildschönau to save a few meters in altitude.
